Members

The PPSA is comprised primarily of scholars and teachers of the discipline of Political Science and related disciplines. At present, the Association has around 200 regular members. In general, there are several categories of members in the Association – Charter Members, Regular Members, Associate Members, and Institutional Members.

 

Charter members are the founding members of the Association. Regular members are those who are in good standing and engaged in the professional study and teaching of Political Science or a related discipline. Associate members are students (e.g., graduate and undergraduate) or other eminent persons (e.g., practitioners, journalists, etc.) with a strong interest in Political Science. Institutional membership is open to academic and research institutions that share in the Association's objectives.

Procedure of Membership

Membership to the Association can be made either by invitation or upon being endorsed / sponsored by a regular or associate member. In addition, academics can also apply for membership to any of the officers of the Executive Board. In general, approval of such applications for membership is based on the qualifications and interests of the prospective members.

The accomplished application form must be accompanied by the applicant's most recent curriculum vitae and 1 X 1 picture and then submitted to the same office along with a non-refundable application fee to cover processing expenses. Upon approval of the application for membership, the applicant will be asked to pay the annual membership fee.

The applicant will be notified within 15 working days of the results of the application. Upon being accepted to the Association and the payment of the annual membership fee, members will receive a copy of the latest issue of the PPSJ and the PPSA identification card. In addition, members are also invited to attend the Association's numerous activities including its annual National Conference. A certification of membership can be issued by the PPSA upon request.
